GVSU Club Sailors were busy this weekend! We sent sailors to two regattas; Cary-Price Memorial Regatta hosted by University of Michigan, and MCSA Men's Singlehanded Championship Regatta in Chicago, hosted by Northwestern Illinois University.
-MCSA Men's Singlehanded: Elliot Lee (jr) traveled to Chicago and did very well, pulling 4th among teams from across the country. Scores can

--Cary-Price Memorial Regatta: Addison Amstutz (sr), Nick Smart (jr), Joseph Kurta (fresh.), Antoinette Martin (soph.), and Marc G (fresh.) traveled to University of Michigan to compete against collegiate teams from across the region. They did very well, also pulling 4th. The regatta lasted two days. On Saturday, October 15th, after a brief postponement, the wind filled in from the southwest and maintained a relatively consistent 6-12 knots all day. The sun peeked through the clouds in the afternoon to make for a beautiful day of fall sailing. Eight races were completed in both A and B division. There was one protest which was disallowed. On Sunday, October 16th, sailors headed out on the water early to try to finish the last race of the round robin. However, the storm moved in faster than expected and sailors were sent back in before a race could even be started. With thunderstorms poised to be looming for the duration of the day, racing was cancelled and sailors were sent home. Despite day 2 being cut short, Lakers still did extremely well. Scores can be found here: http://scores.collegesailing.org/f16/cary-price/.
Club Sailing @ GVSU is proud to send sailors of all experience levels to prestigious regattas across the nation. The fall season is continuing strong, with sailors performing very well. We are looking forward to many more successful regattas this season.
